Halloween

Happy Birthday to the best Mommy in the world!

Today was kind of busy; we drove to my parents house, drove our last foster kitten down to be adopted (like he is every weekend), went to the grocery store for mom's birthday dinner, drove to Nick's parents house and visited, drove to town again to pick up the kitten, saw a lady looking at him, chatted a minute, she decided she wanted to adopt him, stayed late to adopt my last sweet baby out, drove home, was sad a little bit about adopting him out with mom and dad and Troy, made dinner for mom (white wine sauce linguine with seared scallops, cheese roasted veggies, homemade french bread, and carrot cake), then drove past Nick's parents house to go to Troy's friend's free haunted house, screamed a lot, drove home, and sat down, whereupon I just realized I forgot to steal toilet paper from mom's house like I meant to.

That was the longest run-on sentence ever! Go me!

Nick was "Captain One-Eyed Willy" and I was his pirate wench. I'll post photos later.

Holy Shiznit on Toast

The air is crisp, the leaves are turning orange, and the Halloween decorations are decorating our house. We have scarecrows, pumpkins, snakes, and spiders all around.

One of the plastic spiders is Oz's new favorite toy! He took it off the counter and ran around the house with it, scaring me silly half a dozen times. I'd see the creepy long black legs and freeze in terror before realizing it was fake. Eventually, I got used to seeing the plastic spider around. (Do you see where this is leading?)

Half an hour ago, I got up from the couch to go slide some banana nut bread (eggless! part of the dairy/egg fasting from my doctor to see if that helps my stomach! Hint: Hasn't yet.) and walked past the spider. I glanced down, about one foot away from it. And the disjointed black legs moved.

"HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT HOLY SHIT OHMIGOD HOLYSHIT!" I jumped about three feet in the air, and somehow moved about ten feet away, and kept screaming and hopping up and down, pointing as the live spider started crawling towards me.

Finally the rest of my family came over, laughing at me for being so girly and scared of a spider. Dad walked over to look at it, and Troy followed, still chuckling at me for overreacting.

"Holy crap! That's a big spider!" "Whoa!"

Yeah. So, Dad took it outside, since nobody wanted to squish it. It took about five more minutes before the adrenaline wore off and my heart rate went back to normal. I still feel kind of twitchy when my hair brushes my neck. (*shudders in revulsion*)

Happy Halloween!

Halloween

We had a good Halloween.

Nevermind that we ate all the candy about a month ago! We don't really get any trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood--houses are too far apart!

It was my mom's birthday and she woke me up hollering for me to make her breakfast! So I made a delicious apple cobbler coffeecake. Then mom, dad, two of their friends and Nick and I went to pizza for dinner and went through a baby haunted house. Dad and the other guy friend drank a whole pitcher of beer and we all told funny stories and tried not to debate politics.

Then Nick and I rented "Fido", a hilarious zombie movie (God help me, I am addicted to the zombie movies!) and watched it with my parents.

And then we all went to sleep. We're some wild party animals!

Happy Halloween!
