New Best Friend (For Now)

I'd like to give a shout-out to my new best friend, Gaviscon.
Tums and rolaids don't do much to help with my stomach issues of queasiness/heartburn/GERD/ulcers/gastritis/whofreakingknows and I am afraid to take too much Pepto Bismol (read their side effects, eek) and already had to take three doses of that pink chalky tablet two nights ago, plus four antacids, plus two rolaids, and I am so tired of feeling sick and feeling full even though I haven't eaten anything except two bites of toast and some butternut squash soup, and feeling like I have food in the back of my throat and acidic bile taste in my mouth and MY GOD, this all just sucks the big wazoo. I'm still taking 2 Prilosec daily, one every twelve hours, plus digestive enzymes, plus probiotics. And today I added another antacid to my list: Gaviscon Extra Strength Liquid. (In cool mint!) I'm not sure if it really helped, but at least the incredibly minty white chalky flavor has distracted me from the other stuff.

PS I am now down to 143 pounds! I started at 153 and have been holding at 143 for three days. I can't remember the last time I weighed 143. 145 was my goal weight, and now it's like . . . I would rather feel better and weigh 153 again and just lose it the good ol' fashioned exercise way.

Holy Shiznit on Toast

The air is crisp, the leaves are turning orange, and the Halloween decorations are decorating our house. We have scarecrows, pumpkins, snakes, and spiders all around.

One of the plastic spiders is Oz's new favorite toy! He took it off the counter and ran around the house with it, scaring me silly half a dozen times. I'd see the creepy long black legs and freeze in terror before realizing it was fake. Eventually, I got used to seeing the plastic spider around. (Do you see where this is leading?)

Half an hour ago, I got up from the couch to go slide some banana nut bread (eggless! part of the dairy/egg fasting from my doctor to see if that helps my stomach! Hint: Hasn't yet.) and walked past the spider. I glanced down, about one foot away from it. And the disjointed black legs moved.

"HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT HOLY SHIT OHMIGOD HOLYSHIT!" I jumped about three feet in the air, and somehow moved about ten feet away, and kept screaming and hopping up and down, pointing as the live spider started crawling towards me.

Finally the rest of my family came over, laughing at me for being so girly and scared of a spider. Dad walked over to look at it, and Troy followed, still chuckling at me for overreacting.

"Holy crap! That's a big spider!" "Whoa!"

Yeah. So, Dad took it outside, since nobody wanted to squish it. It took about five more minutes before the adrenaline wore off and my heart rate went back to normal. I still feel kind of twitchy when my hair brushes my neck. (*shudders in revulsion*)

Happy Halloween!

First Real Veterinary Visit

Io, my six year old boy that I've had since he was a teeny kitten, woke me up at about 7:20 this morning by banging on my closet door. (The litter is in there. He bangs on the door when he's trying to cover with litter.)

Slowly waking up, I realized that he had banged on the door a lot and that a few times in the night I had drowsily ordered him to "STOP. IT." before falling back asleep. I started worrying that he had a blockage or crystals in his bladder.

I took him to work and my boss said that his bladder was pretty full, so we knocked Io out so that we could flush out his bladder in case there were crystals.

Of course, Io has to be one of those few cats that stops breathing when you put him under. (Of course! AAack.) He finally started again, but I think I have some gray hairs now. We flushed him by putting a catheter up his urethra and found some fine sand crystals and a mucous plug. He was blocked but not too badly. We woke him up (and DR scraped his teeth to
get rid of some plaque). And then he threw up.

He got a bladder antibiotic flush, an antibiotic injection, cortisone injection, and sent home with some more antibiotics.

I got to spend $30 on Chicken Soup for the Soul cat food (or any low magnesium food. ALL VERY EXPENSIVE.) Whee!

Dear Io,
Please don't ever get sick or scare me ever again.
Love, CrazyCatMommy

For the Love of Hair Ties

Hello, hello!

Oz, myself, and Oz just wanted to say hi. ^_^

My kitten was just cut off, cold turkey, from his beloved hair ties. He loved to trot around carrying them before chewing them in half, and then discarded them to go and find a new hair tie. He found them in drawers, and even would take them out of candles (where I hid them) and out of the trash (if they were broken). He would keep his "treasures" in his food bowl or even the water bowl! He's so spoiled, Mom even bought a big pack of hair ties just for Oz!

Alas, it was not to be. This morning Oz threw up a hair tie that he had chewed in half before eating. (I'm afraid he's going to give himself a blockage!) I spent part of today tracking down all of the mangled hair ties he's tossed around our house and hiding the few whole hair ties left. Now here's a challenge: finding the new favorite toy!

Crazy Boy

My crazy kitten can play fetch! If you slide a hair tie across the floor, he will run and pounce on it and then bring it back and drop it at your feet. He does this over and over!

PS Hair tie's are his MOST FAVORITE. EVER.

Hair Advice, Help!

I've been toying with the idea of dying my hair again. I think I still have a box of temporary dye in my bathroom--What do ya'll think of this color? (PS Ignore the clothes).
