I have mentioned that procrastination is my middle name, right?

Regarding the lack of uppity-updates . . . . yeah. I suck. Sorry. ^_- And now I'm going to bed, so quick! Here's a summary of interesting things that happened while I wasn't blogging!

1. I vacuumed. (Not interesting, but something I'm very proud of.)

2. Amalah up and got pregnant! Again!

3. I read the whole series of the Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz: this hilarious series about a private investigator dysfunctional family with Izzy Spellman getting into weird situations is awesome.

4. Speaking of awesome (and legen--wait for it--DAIRY) is the TV series How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM!) that started and is conveniently posted online at cbs.com for us cable-less folk.

5. Was scared stiff by watching Blade Runner with Harrison Ford. Nick made me.

6. Made Nick watch the Disney movie the Princess and the Frog as payback.

7. Cooked a bunch. Dinner tonight was wor won ton soup, which was super delicious. (Also a pain to fold those damn wrappers into the right shape.)

8. Exercised! A little.

9. Yelled myself hoarse at kids not behaving across the playground, while I was at work at the after-school program. And yet, it is so fun! Oh! And I got a babysitting gig through work!

10. Frowned at the sky a lot, like, "This is fall, right? So why is it NINETY DEGREES AND UP?!" Seriously. I buy the cutest sweater at Old Navy and then it's too hot for me to wear it. What gives, Nature?

Okay. Bedtime. Sweet dreams!

Well, it only took about 16 years or so. That's progress!

I finally cleaned my room. It took me 11 hours one day, a few hours the next day, and it is actually still a work in progress. (Hint: there is a reason my bed is not shown.)

My picture-mobile that Drew gave me for my 18th birthday. (Vicky, I still have photos that technically belong to you! But I will keep them by default unless you reeeeally want them back because they are majorly cute.)

This is the dresser that belonged to my grandma and grandpa--it's beautiful and very handy dandy. The top jewelery box my grandma gave me and is totally filled with my necklaces and bracelets and pendants! The middle picture is of my friend Cassie and I when she was just a few weeks pregnant with her first child. The ferris wheel of pictures was a birthday gift from Quentin. And then there's a carved knick-knack filled with zircon earrings.

This is my dresser and mirror that I've had for ages. Mom and dad bought it at an auction when I was young. The feather mask was my grandma's. On my dresser I have a carved jade jewelery box, a blown glass perfume holder, a fairy earring holder, and two coral jewelery holders. Oh, and a cat and a kitten.

This is a cross-stitched Japanese (Chinese?) woman with a little butterfly in the bottom corner. It belonged to my grandparents and was always kept in the bathroom and I've always loved it.

My bookcase corner. I gave mom the larger bookcase and took my older bookcase back (getting rid of about half of my books) and organized them to my exact specifications. On top are my bamboo hearts from Nick (^_^) and a cheap fan, and a "chop" from China from my parents.

I also organized my closet. It's awesome. I need to clean some more (does it ever end?) and then maaaybe post some more pics to show you my beautiful bed and closet. Oohlala!

Favorites

Things that Katie Loves, Like, A Lot:

1) Burn Notice (TV series with Jeffrey Donovan, about an ex-spy who helps people and is full of awesome.)

2) Diana Gabaldon's series of "Outlander" books. So long, but so worth it. Go Jamie!

3) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (chick who slays vampires and gets to hang out with Willow and Xander!)

4) Chocolate.

5) Novels by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes and Tamora Pierce (my favorites when I was younger). Some other faves: Janet Evanovich (Ranger!) and Harry Potter. I do love some Nora Roberts romance as well.

6) Country music: Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Chuck Wicks (hot!), Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, and lots more.

7) Sleeping. Napping. Reading in the sunlight and falling asleep.

8) Nick.

9) Listening to loud music and singing along in the car with the windows down.

10) Lip gloss! Chap sticks! Lip balms!

11) Steaming hot showers that turn me into a "boiled lobster", quoth Nick.

12) Blogs (Amalah and Dooce! Whee!)

13) Snuggling with my cats. Falling asleep with Oz purring next to my feet. Feeling Io do his very quiet purr by touching his throat in the mornings, where he sleeps on "his" pillow.

14) The smell of fresh-cut grass.

15) Driving home. I love the slow, slightly windy road and the tree in the middle of the road, and that I know a lot of my neighbors, and the wildflowers, and the cute houses, and the dogwoods, and the huge trees over the road.

That's all I can think of for now. I'm distracted by my six foster kittens attacking my bare legs with their needle teeth and claws. I'll add more later!

Traveling to Thanksgiving

A few things I have realized today, from packing this morning and driving eight hours to LA:

1) My kittens new favorite toy is whatever clothing item I am trying to pack.

2) I don't like traveling. My stomach/IBS doesn't like driving eight hours. I had split pea soup for lunch and omg, hello freaking heartburn and upset stomach. Also a bit of anxiety from a change in routine.

3) I need to go to the library, I had no books to read. I snoozed most of the way.

4) My kitten chewed my laptop's charge cord. It no longer charges. Oops.

5) I drink way too much water and suffer from Tiny Bladder.

6) You actually CAN fit six people (my parents, brother, myself, Quentin, and his French friend Louis) plus two dogs and luggage into one van. I would not, however, recommend it.

Suspicions

I suspect that when I yank up my blankets to cover my freezing shoulders, my covers are not moving at all and instead I am pulling myself down towards the end of the bed, due to the two loads of laundry and many different books tossed haphazardly on my bed, so that I am squished on the last twelve inches of bed available.

ReallyFastBeforeNickSees!

"An Echo in the Bone" arrived two days ago and I finally finished it and it was awesome and I loved it and now I have to reread it again and it has a cliffhanger! which is bad because Diana Gabaldon takes like three years to write each one.

My dad is in Denver for a trade show for his work and this morning he was upset that Troy had his Visa card still (Because Troy is a Bad Boy this is proof) but I hope you have a safe trip Dad!

I had a weird dream I think where I bought groceries and I went downstairs and was surprised that we did not have sourdough since I distinctly remember buying sourdough but apparently I did not in real life.

Tylenol sucks for pain relief.

EDWAAAARRRDDD!!!

I finally gave in to the pressure (from myself!) and bought Twilight, the awesome vampire and human love story novel by Stephenie Meyer. ("Soon to be a major motion picture! Free poster inside!").

The pictures were everywhere. My aunt and cousin were raving about the soon to be released movie. My friend asked me if I wanted to go see it next weekend. It had been like a whole month since I had read Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Pick any excuse you like, I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE.

When I spotted it for $8.59 at Target I just couldn't stop myself. So now I have my very own brand-spankin' new copy that I barely have time to read . . .I dream of reading it while laboriously working on math, forgetting to study Spanish, or while I'm at work. Last night I stayed up to 11:30 reading up to a "happy part" so I could put the book down without fretting that OHMIGOD EDWARD IS UPSET. WHY?!? Never mind that I technically remember, I HAVE TO REREAD IT TO KNOW FOR SURE.

So yeah. If you haven't read Twilight, push off that rock you're under and prepare to fall in love. You can choose from all the amazing beautiful perfect characters! Edward is the perfect vampire. (Almost too perfect. Annoyingly perfect? Perhaps, but I will bury that thought, never fear!) (Okay, seriously. His character weakness is being overprotective. WTF? Doesn't he leave the toilet seat up too?)

I cannot wait to see the movie this weekend. I hope it is amazing because so many Twilight fans are waiting with bated breath and a sucky movie would....suck. But if it's not? I plan to buy the three next books and console myself with written vampire perfection.
