Craaaaazy Girl

"Crazy Girl" by the Eli Young Band is adorable. Just throwing that out there. (It's a country song, don't listen to it dad!)

On Saturday I broke down my 20 gallon freshwater aquarium and moved it to our apartment. That . . . was fun. Yeah. Just about seven whole hours of fun. Whee! (Tips for moving aquariums may follow in the future, but right off: 5 gallon Home Depot buckets with lids are awesome, don't use styrofoam because they leak all over your trunk and your jeans and are super hard to carry, move as much of your cycled water as possible, at least 50%, and once you're all done setting it up test your water again because the new water will not be the same pH. Oh, and if you are a crazy girl like me and decide to change the substrate at the same time, wash it ahead of time and leave some of your old gravel in a nylon hose in the new tank so that your bacteria from the old gravel keep the aquarium's chemistry levels from bouncing all over and getting new tank syndrome. It seems to be working so far!)

We also purchased six ghost shrimp and two mystery snails, and they are adorable. My corycat is SO much happier with the new sand substrate instead of harsh gravel, and my killifish is killing me with his possibly being sick but then being perfectly fine and MAKE UP YOUR MIND ALREADY, DAMMIT. Oh, and if he is sick then I can't treat him with my malachite green because apparently it is bad for invertebrates and snails. AWESOMENESS.

I am totally obsessed with my tank again, yay! I want more tanks, including a super awesomely expensive saltwater, not yay!

The private school I work at as the computer teacher/after-school teacher has their graduation tomorrow, and a field day on Wednesday where the staff and parents play the kids in a softball game and have a bbq! Should be fun!

I . . . have run out of things to talk about. My brain is going a mile a minute about tanks and aquarium plants and getting gourami and how I want angels but need a taller tank but I've had angels before but they've died after a year or so and waaaaaaah. If only money wasn't an issue! (Sob!)

Oh yeah! Kauai! I go to Kauai on the 22nd until the 2nd, with Andra! Yaaaay!

Quick Update

I taught computer class all by my self today, and by December will be teaching it completely! I'll go into that later. Suffice to say, it was fun, and awesome, and I wanna do it again.

I substitute kindergarten tomorrow. Which means I have to get up early. Ugh.

Went out with my coworker friends today, laughed a lot. Fun!

Our apartment is messy.

I love my boyfriend.

This weekend will be busy.

I really, truly, seriously for-reals this time must study for my incompletes.

Mwah!

A Series of Serendipitous Events

This morning it was only a happy accident that prevented me from missing my very important phone call from the EDD; an interview that would (hopefully) reinstate my unemployment paycheck since it stopped when I started school.

I had completely forgotten about the window of time--10 to 12-- during which I was going to be called. If I missed the call I would have to reschedule which could take a long time. At a quarter to 10 I was heading out to grab my bike so I could meet Nick at the end of his class and bike home with him, and if I had I would have missed the call.

Luckily I had forgotten I had a flat tire! I headed back in, intent on walking as far as I could to meet him, and heard my phone ringing. By the time I bolted into the bedroom and grabbed my phone I thought I had missed whoever it was, but fortunately made it just in the nickel dime! When the person said they were from the EDD you could have knocked me over with a feather. I could not believe I had forgotten what I had been talking about all weekend! (That just goes to show how slow I am in the mornings.)

Even better is that my paycheck is reinstated! After finding out that I had only ever worked part-time, that my school schedule is only four hours a week, and that I was indeed looking for work--a conversation that took all of four minutes and contained no scary questions--she said there were no problems and that they would continue my unemployment! Yay!

What's so scary is how darn close I came to missing that phone call. I am so happy to have a flat tire right now--even if it means spending five bucks for a new tube. After all that I still had time to get a few hundred yards before Nick ran me over with his bike. Happy happy day!

Quest Complete

I have finally found that which has eluded me for years and years: the perfect lip balm. Behold!

The blurriness and flip-floppiness adds to the mystique. Really. It's Vanilla Sugar lip balm from Bath and Body Works, one of my (and Kyla's) favorite lip balms of all time that DISAPPEARED from the stores because it was DISCONTINUED. (WHY?! Why!??!) And it took me years to figure this out and then find them on ebay. As soon as I did I bought them! I am now the proud owner of two .14oz vanilla sugar lip balms and am just so ridiculously thrilled and delighted about this that I did a happy dance as I was opening the package and even now feel a squee coming on.

It's amazing lip balm! It smells good, it tastes good, it isn't slimy or glossy like all the others, and Nick even likes it. (Amaaaaazing. Really. Picky boy). I luuurve it!

Apparently this lip balm is being sold again for a limited time, which is how I won it on ebay. But I don't want you all to rush out and start buying this lip balm just from my say-so on how fantastic it is--they might run out! In fact, this lip balm actually kind of sucks. You definitely do not want to buy it. I would suggest perhaps MAC or Burt's Bees, which are infinitely superior. OK gtg off to buy out the rest of ebay's stock! Smooches! ^_^
